Marie-Claude TREHETbegan painting portraits after her firs talent of drawing. She then moved on ton still life's landscapes and se seascapes. The period consisted of Breton landscapes with ethereal sky's and blue seas. It was followed by a period of equestrian scenes full o dreams and poetry. At the same time, Marie-Claude TREHET became one of the lower Normandy Artists where the President" Andre LEMAITRE "offered her his advice. IT was then that began a period consisting of landscapes flowers and countryside scenes on a canvas with large grains which she prepared herself using the old method. Her painting begins to take shape and develop although is increasingly tinged with austerity. The colours are warm and harmonious but their heavy tones add a certain atmosphere of nostalgia to per work. It is, however, during the period of SPLEEN that she enjoys the most success, in the Breton exhibitions, namely PERROS-GUIREC where she exhibs every year during the month august. In 1984, her encounter with HAMBOURG is the start of new possibilities. Even if she briefly returns to painting the sea and shimmering waters which meander through the Bocage landscape, she quickly tunes towards themes which bring about the use of more vibrant colours, although in doing so, it does not in any way alter the feeling of sensibility in her work. First of all it is the Marshes of Normandy
beach or carnival scenes, or fishing in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel
which emit vitality and radiance.
From this moment on, man is of great importance in her
work, purified but essentially still intimate. As of 1992, she rediscovers Provence . Her painting becomes move enriched, refined
with canvases of Carmargue, ports such as MARTIGUES or LA CIOTAT, the
landscape of HIGH PROVENCE such as those which pleased GIONO : villages with ocre facades, sometimes raised
high above the spattering rivers, bridges extending over the calm and never ending streams, porches witch
facades full of light with a fresh shadow hidelen under
their arches. this period captures the time light of Provence , the serenity and at the some time, the strong, eternal and magisterial aspects of the various facets of Provence. It today Marie-Claude TREHET where to be rated or described, it would be characterize her time, inspired by the great sight of nature, movement and light. "She is to the plastic arts what a composer is to
music"
